During 2004 and 2005 the Optimist Club of Oakridge Acres Inc. began the
process of developing and implementing a thorough process for
recruiting, screening, training and supporting the many volunteers that
contribute to the community through their programs. They have
completed the screening process, which includes police checks, for
their hockey volunteers and are now screening their club members as
well as their soccer and baseball volunteers for the 2006 season.
The primary purpose of volunteer screening is the protection of the
youth enrolled in our programs, our volunteers and our organization
through risk identification, policies, procedures, training, volunteer
selection processes, screening and position descriptions.
