NOW Meeting Summary and Evaluation - June 10, 2003
- 47 letters sent out to prospective members supplied by the Sydenham
Club members
- follow up telephone calls made by 5 table hosts
- luncheon meeting held at the Officers’ Mess at the Land Forces Training
Centre - Meaford
- other guests came from the Optimist Clubs of Chesley and Southport
within our zone at the meeting, 16 guests attended and 11 members signed
that day; follow up later generated another 3 for a total of 14 by the next
dinner meeting
- all new members got their name badges, pins and were inducted at the
next dinner meeting
- finances worked out at $ 401.53
Some things to consider for another time....
- timing of the NOW meeting didn’t allow for members to get readily
involved before the summer and we probably lost one member because of this.....
- members didn’t get on committees until later in the process and with
the start up of the next administration.....
- keep the same format and keep this a ‘classy event’......
- plan for these at least once during the year - the club needs to continue
to grow and gain new ideas and workers for
our projects.....
Feedback from the presentation made at the 1st Quarter Board Meeting
- pick up new prospective members even though they offer to get there
themselves
- during the meeting, recognize some of the Optimist Members for club
or community achievement and show the new prospective members what we are
all about
- ask your members to submit names but to key on certain groups or age
groups within the community (i.e.) senior groups, businesses, professionals,
students, etc.
- on the program and on the invitation letter, list telephone numbers
of members or the executive; perhaps have the person who submitted
the name also sign the letter;
