The Club President will be recognized by resolution of the International Board of Directors and will receive a Distinguished President certificate and a watch. The Club will receive a Distinguished Club patch to be mounted on the banner, a patch indicating the name of the Club President and the year in which the recognition was earned. In subsequent years, Clubs will receive a name and year patch to be mounted below the original Distinguished Club patch. The Secretary/Treasurer of a Distinguished Club will receive a certificate recognizing their contributions to the success of the Club.
A Club can earn the title of Distinguished Club, with a Distinguished President by qualifying for Honour Club and additional completing one (1) of the following alternates between October, 2009 and September 30, 2010:
Sponsor, or Co-Sponsor, a New Optimist Club with a minimum of 25 fully paid Charter Members at the time of the official organizational meeting. The New Club Follow-Up Program must be completed in order to receive credit.
For a Club of 25 or more members on October 1:
Show, by September 30, 2010, net increase of 25 or more members over the October 1, 2009, membership.
For a Club of 24 members or fewer on October 1 :
Show, by September 30, 2010, a net increase of at least 15 members and finish the year with a least 25 members enrolled on the official Optimist International Roster.The beginning membership base for New Clubs shall be the official total Charter Membership, which includes Charter Members added during the 15-day charter extension period.
Part 1 - Sponsor a New Junior Optimist, Octagon or Alpha Club (JOOI), with a minimum of 15 fully paid Charter Members at the time of the official organizational meeting. The Sponsor Club must certify that the Follow-Up Program has been completed and written certification must be submitted to the Headquarters Office by an official postal office no later than November 30, 2010.
Part 2 - Sponsor Club must show, by September 30, 2010, a net increase of at least 15 members over the October 1, 2008, membership.
Any club that satisfies the requirements to become a Distinguished Club may advance to attain the following Distinguished recognition levels (which will be awarded in the 3'd and 4th Quarter meeting):
Earn this title by qualifying for a Distinguished Club and additionally completing one (1) of the alternates listed (A-B-C).
A plaque depicting "Youth in Action" will be presented to the club that achieves Double Distinguished status.
Earn this title by qualifying for a Distinguished Club and additionally completing any combination of two (2) of the alternates listed (A-B-C).
A plaque depicting "Youth in Action" will be presented to the club that achieves Triple Distinguished status.
Earn this title by qualifying for a Distinguished Club and additionally completing any combination of three (3) of the alternates listed (A-B-C).
A plaque depicting "Youth in Action" will be presented to the club that achieves Grand Slam Distinguished status.
