INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
(See the 2009-2010 “Optimist International Recognition and Awards” handbook for complete details.)
- Honour Clubs will be presented with an Honour Club patch and an additional second patch showing the name of the President and the year in which the recognition was earned.
- Distinguished Clubs will be presented with a Distinguished Club patch indicating the name of the Club President and the year in which the recognition was earned.
- A New Club Sponsorship Patch will be presented to every Club that sponsors a new Optimist Club and completes the New Club Building Follow-Up Program.
- A Golden Ten / Golden Twenty / Golden Thirty Patch will be presented to an Optimist Club that has successfully sponsored 10, 20, 30 new Clubs since the inauguration of Club sponsorship program on July 1, 1951. Presentations will be made at the International Convention to Clubs attaining the honour during the past year. All New Club Sponsorship rules apply.
- A JOOI Sponsor Patch will be presented to every Club that sponsors a new JOOI Club.
DISTRICT AWARDS
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to each club that sponsors a new club and has it organized by September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" BANNER PATCH will be presented to each club that adds five (5) new members between October 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010, and the Club Roster Adjustment received by Optimist International on or before September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" BANNER PATCH will be presented to the top club in each Zone that achieves the highest points in the Achievements and Awards Program (A&A) as of September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" NET+5 AWARD will be presented to each club that achieves a NET +5 in membership between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010 and the Club Roster Adjustment received by Optimist International on or before September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to each club with fewer than 20 members on October 1, 2009, that achieves 20 or more in membership by September 30, 2010 and the Club Roster Admustment received by Optimist International on or before September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" BANNER PATCH will be presented to each club that sponsors a JOOI club and has it organized by September 30, 2010.
- THE GOVERNOR EDEN SNYDER TROPHY (Achievements and Awards) will be presented to the club that stands first in total Achievement and Awards Program points in the District on September 30, 2010.
- THE STEWART MACDONALD TROPHY (New Club Building Memorial Award) will be presented to the club that organizes the first new club in the 2009~2010 Optimist Year.
- THE GOVERNOR HUGH GOODFELLOW TROPHY (Membership Award) will be presented to the club with the largest net increase in membership between October 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010.
- THE GOVERNOR JACK MAHONEY TROPHY (Largest New Club Building Award) will be presented to the club that organizes a new club with the most charter members in the 2009~2010 Optimist Year.
- THE GOVERNOR DALE DUFFIELD TROPHY (Scrapbook Award) will be presented to the winner of the club scrapbook contest for clubs with 41 or more members.
- THE GOVERNOR CLARKE McLEOD TROPHY (Scrapbook Award) will be presented to the winner of the club scrapbook contest for clubs with 40 or fewer members.
- THE NORTHSIDE TROPHIES AND AWARDS TROPHY (Best Overall Club Newsletter) will be presented to the overall winner of the club newsletter contest. Winners in each of four categories (75+, 41 - 74, 40 or less members and new club) will receive a plaque.
INTERNATIONAL AWARDS:

- A One-Member Sponsor Lapel Pin (Bronze) will be presented to each member who sponsors a new member during the 2009-2010 year. This pin will be mailed to the club president for presentation. (To quality, the club secretary must file a CRA form identifying the new member and sponsor’s name.)
- A Three-Member Sponsor Lapel Pin (Silver) will be presented to each member who sponsors three new members during the 2009-2010 year. This pin will be mailed to the club president for presentation. (To quality, the club secretary must file a CRA form identifying the new member and sponsor’s name.)
- A Five-Member Sponsor Lapel Pin (Gold) will be presented to each member who sponsors five new members during the 2009-2010 year. This pin will be mailed to the club president for presentation. (To quality, the club secretary must file a CRA form identifying the new member and sponsor’s name.)
- Builder of Excellence Lapel Pin inscribed with the number of clubs built. Each Builder of Excellence will also receive a Presidential certificate (and the District will receive a personalized patch for the District Builder of Excellence banner). Further recognition will be a medallion presented to the Builder of Excellence at the annual International Convention.
- An Accumulative Sponsor Member Pin will be presented to each Optimist who earns recognition for solely sponsoring 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100 new members (other than Charter Members) into any Optimist Club. The sponsorship is cumulative from one year to the next and must be applied for.
- A certificate will be presented to the Secretary/Treasurer of an Honour Club recognizing their contributions to the success of the Club.
- A certificate will be presented to the Secretary/Treasurer of a Distinguished Club recognizing their contributions to the success of the Club.
DISTRICT AWARDS:
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to each of the first five (5) members who sponsor a member between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010, and the Club Roster Adjustment received by Optimist International on or before September 30, 2010.
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to each member sponsoring five (5) new members between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010, and the Club Roster Adjustment received by Optimist International on or before September 30, 2010.
- THE GOVERNOR NATE GINGERICH TROPHY (District Leadership Award) will be presented to the individual who best exemplifies leadership abilities in the District and who also contributes to the growth of the District.
- CORNER STONE AWARD: The Corner Stone Award has been donated in honour of the long and outstanding service and dedication of Past Governors Pat Rehkopf and Ab Flood. Those nominated for this award should exemplify these individuals by their own dedication to our organization through service to Optimist International, our District, and their club.
- GOVERNOR'S AWARD (In memory of our friend, Past Distinguished Governor Pat Rehkopf, recognizing the work, dedication and leadership supporting the Governor in reaching the District Goals) is presented to the Midwestern Ontario District Optimist(s) who exemplifies the 2009~2010 District theme "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship".
INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
- Honour Club President will be presented with an Honour Club Certificate and a special Honour Club President pin.
- Distinguished Club President will be recognized by resolution of the International Board of Directors and will receive a Distinguished President Citation and a watch.
DISTRICT AWARDS
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to each Club President or their designate who attends ALL four Quarter Board meetings between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.
- THE GOVERNOR JIM NOTHER TROPHY (Leadership Award – “Club President”) will be presented to the club president who has demonstrated outstanding leadership within their own club and who has contributed to the growth in our organization.

INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
- A Distinguished Lieutenant Governor will be presented with a Distinguished Lieutenant Governor gold pin with a blue stone and a certificate, plus a name and year patch for achieving the following:
- Attending a minimum of three (3) District Executive Meetings between October 1,
2009 and September 30, 2010
- Completing the Annual Club Planning Conference Report (ACPC) for ALL clubs in a Zone.
- Zone must show a membership net increase of 5% from October 1, 2009
- 100% of Honour Clubs OR one (1) new club
- Have a minimum of three (3) Zone meetings and submit reports to the District Secretary/Treasurer.
- A Distinguished and Outstanding Lieutenant Governor Award will be presented for achieving the highest percent of growth from October 1, 2009, in the Zone and build a minimum of one New Club. All Charter members are included in the count.
DISTRICT AWARDS
- A DISTRICT "Co-operation & Communication Grows Friendship" AWARD will be presented to the top three (3) Lieutenant Governors achieving the most Honour Clubs between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.
Achievement and Awards Program

The District Achievement and Awards Program is designed to recognize those clubs that meet and/or exceed the expectations and obligations of Optimist International and Midwestern Ontario District.
Optimist International will provide a banner patch to the club earning the highest points in the District. For the Club achieving the number one position for the first time, O.I. will provide a banner strip and year flag for their club banner. In subsequent years, winning Clubs will receive a year flag only.
The District will present the following awards:
